Ingredients :
For the Cake:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 Aayu Luxe Vanilla Bean (seeds scraped) or 1 tbsp Vanilla Bean Paste
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional boost)
For the Vanilla Bean Buttercream:
- 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1-2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 Aayu Luxe Vanilla Bean (seeds scraped) or 1 tbsp Aayu Luxe Vanilla Bean Paste
- Pinch of salt
Instructions :
1. Make the Cake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Mix in the vanilla bean seeds.
- Gradually alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool completely in the pans before removing and transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
2. Make the Buttercream:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter until it becomes smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, about 1 cup at a time, beating until smooth after each addition.
- Add the vanilla bean seeds, a pinch of salt, and 1-2 tablespoons of heavy cream to the buttercream. Beat until the frosting is fluffy and spreadable.
3. Assemble the Cake:
- If necessary, level the cake layers using a serrated knife.
- Place one layer of the cake on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of buttercream on top.
- Top with the second layer of cake and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining buttercream.
- Decorate with edible flowers, fresh berries, or a light dusting of powdered sugar for an elegant finish.
Baking Tips:
- For the most aromatic flavor, use fresh Aayu Luxe Vanilla Beans — they’ll give your cake the best depth of flavor.
- If you’re making the cake ahead of time, store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for longer storage.
- For a fruity twist, consider adding a layer of strawberry jam between the cake layers for a burst of flavor.
